Interview with Mike Reporto

Mike Reporto

Chief Commercial Officer, LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions

As a top 100 staffing leader to watch in 2023, what are your goals for the upcoming year and what do you hope to achieve?

With over 4800 open positions, I want to focus on developing and implementing our LAUNCH Academy Programs (LAUNCH Global Access, Career Advancement Program, and Working Heroes). These programs are three unique avenues to drive qualified talent to our aviation maintenance, manufacturing and airline customers.

Another major goal we have at LAUNCH is to further incorporate automation into our business processes. This will not only help streamline placements but will enhance both the candidate and client experience. We are migrating to a new ATS system and piloting a revolutionary candidate matching platform for aviation labor.

In light of the rapidly changing staffing industry, what opportunities do you see that others may not agree on?

One of our new and most successful programs is LAUNCH Global Access, a TN Visa program. There is sensitivity in our industry to bringing on employees outside of the US, but they are proving to have the right technical skills, attitude, and aptitude to be a source of reliable talent our customers can count on.

As discussed at the World Staffing Summit, client experience is becoming increasingly important. What are the biggest shifts in client expectations that you anticipate in the near future?

They want more transparency. Now more than ever we are providing labor market analyses and offering up recommendations and suggestions to fill these large quantity of orders. In the past, our customers were solely counting on us to be just a vendor. Now, more than ever, they are counting on us to be a partner and consultant, offering complete workforce solutions to fulfill their needs.

Based on recent research, it appears that acquiring new clients is becoming increasingly difficult. Do you believe this will be the biggest challenge for the staffing industry in 2023?

I would say it’s the opposite for us and in our industry. We do not have any issues gaining new clients in commercial aviation. The biggest challenges we face are due to the supply and demand in the Aviation/Aerospace industry, with an ever-increasing shortage of skilled aviation mechanics to fill the needs.
